How we work

RULES - that we wish we didn't have to write

But here we are......

Welcome to the Rules Section, also known as:

Things we never thought adults would need reminding of at an adults only campsite near Banbury.

  • Pick up your dog's mess. - Yes, even if it's small. Yes, even if no one saw. Yes, even if your dog "never does that." We love dogs, we do not love having to clean our wellies with a toothbrush.
  • Don't feed the pigs. - They are on diets. They are dramatic. They will lie to you. It is illegal to feed them domestic food.
  • No children. - This is an adults-only campsite in Oxfordshire and we mean it.
  • Respect the music. - Enjoy it. Dance to it. Sing along if you must. But please don't try to join the band or DJ unless invited (You know who you are).
  • Don't annoy the wildlife. - This includes pigs, ducks, dogs, the farmer (you know what they say about annoying someone who keeps pigs!), and the occasional hungover camper. All bite when provoked.
  • Fires only where allowed. - We love a good campfire. We do not love accidental arson.
  • Keep noise down at night. - We're rustic, not rowdy. The camping fields have an 11pm curfew for music and loud banter. If you wish to continue your party then please relocate to the  canal-side fire pits areas. The pigs and fellow campers are trying to sleep, please respect this.
  • Don't steal things. - This includes: Firewood (pay us in the morning); chairs and benches; decorations; pigs and other people's dogs. Oh, and just to make you really laugh - used toilet brushes (I'm not joking!)
  • Be nice to the staff. - They control the food. And the bar. And the power supply and they clean the toilets. Choose wisely.
  • Use common sense. - We know this is asking a lot. But please try.

In summary

Behave like a decent human, treat the pigs and the staff with respect, worship the dogs, enjoy the music and don't set anything on fire unless we say so.

The Pig Place - where the rules are simple, but apparently necessary.

SITE-WIDE DISCLAIMER - because apparently we have to say these things out loud!

Welcome to The Pig Place, where pigs behave better than some humans and the canal has seen things it will never speak of again.

By entering our campsite - you agree to the following:

  • You are an adult. Not just legally, but ideally emotionally. We can't guarantee the latter.
  • You understand that pigs exist here. They are real. They are chunky. They are fabulous. They may judge you..
  • You accept that music may cause toe-tapping, spontaneous dancing, or questionable singing. We accept no responsibility for any of these.
  • You understand that our bar may encourage decisions you'll reconsider in the morning. That's on you, champ.
  • You accept that this is a rustic campsite. Rustic means charmingly simple, not "five-star spa with towel swans."
  • You agree not to sue us if you trip over your own tent peg. Or your dog. Or your dignity.
  • You understand that nature exists. It has bugs. It has mud. It has weather. We cannot turn any of these off.

If any of the above offends you, alarms you, or causes you to clutch your pearls, we gently suggest a hotel.
