We didn't choose the name of our smallholding.....our customers did!

Our first customers arrived by narrowboat (as we are adjacent to the Oxford Canal) and word quickly spread about our pork and sausages. It came back to us that the Towpath Telegraph was referring to us as "The Pig Place" and the name stuck.

A place for our boat...

Our family has lived on a boat since 2000 and have always been looking for a place to moor which we could call our own. In 2007 we found a very large piece of land 4 miles south of Banbury, it was considerably larger than the 60' we needed and massively more money than we planned on spending. We had to find a way to make it pay - we spent a year deciding and with the help of agricultural consultants (who confirmed that "Yes, we were mad, but our idea was a good one"), embarked on transforming a field, which had contained cattle for 25 years, into a working smallholding breeding pedigree rare breed Oxford Sandy & Black and British Lop pigs, native sheep and poultry - selling all of our produce direct to the public via our farm shop.

We hope you like what you see when you visit and even more importantly enjoy the quality of the pork, sausages and bacon that is produced here.
